What you get

Built around what learners asked for.

01 · Nothing swamps you

Miss a week. Same session.

Every session is the cards that fit the minutes you set. Come back after time away and it's the same size: the cards that waited come first, most faded first, and new cards wait their turn. You never open the app to 900 due.

8 minutes means 8 minutes
Today after a week away: a session of the usual size, and two quiet lines on when new cards resumeToday on a day with no session, and when the next one is
02 · Remember it on the day

Ready on the day.

Give a deck your exam date. Bunshu says how ready you'll be, On track or Behind, and if you're behind it lists what would fix it, with numbers: an hour more a week, a later date, a lower target. The day before is one full pass, so exam day has nothing left to cram.

Today with a target behind: Heads Up's bar, the week's Schedule, and the Targets row reading BehindHeads Up open: what you have, what you need, and the changes that would close the gap, each with its number
03 · Nothing to set up

Your first card in a minute.

No settings to learn, no add-ons, no tutorial, and on your phone no account to make. Pick a deck, tap Start. FSRS, the open memory model, fits itself to your reviews.

04 · Numbers that tell the truth

Stats you can read in a line.

How much you could recall today, and the day you'll reach your target. A calendar of your study days, with no streak to lose. Progress per deck. Plus adds Strong and weak and Learning patterns: your weakest topics and cards, what's slipping, your best hours, when your recall drops in a sitting, each ending in what to do.

05 · Your notes, made into cards

Checked against your notes.

Add lecture notes, slides, a PDF or a photo of your handwriting. Bunshu shows what it understood, drafts three cards for your OK, then every card points to the line it came from and a second model checks it. Nothing is saved until you say so.

06 · Bring your decks

Your Anki decks, history included.

Decks import with their images, audio, tags and review history, so nothing starts over. Quizlet exports and spreadsheets too.

A new review session: its date, From and To, and the days of the week it repeats on
07 · Your week

You own when. Bunshu owns what.

Place your sessions in Schedule, with a reminder at each and quiet hours while you sleep. Bunshu fills every session and never moves one. Heads Up advises; you decide.

A clear finish, every dayThe session ends on a stamp with your numbers and what to fix next. No streaks; rest built in.

Fair questions

Before you try it.

I already have years of cards in Anki.

Bring them. Your decks import with their images, tags and review history, so Bunshu knows what you already remember and nothing starts over.

AI flashcards are full of mistakes.

That's why Bunshu never saves one you haven't seen. Every AI card is labelled, points to the line it came from, is checked by a second model, and waits for your OK. Typing your own is free and unlimited.

I've fallen off flashcards before.

Most people quit over the pile and the chore. Here a session ends in minutes on a clear finish, there's no streak to lose, and a missed week never punishes you.

What if Bunshu starts charging for the basics?

Cards, reviews and every way of studying are free on every plan, in writing. Plus adds AI without limit, generated audio and deep Stats, nothing you need to study. Export everything whenever you like.

Who can read my cards?

No one but you. They're encrypted on the way and on the servers; we see only what you publish or report. The AI reads your notes only when you ask it to draft, and your consent names the companies first.

I'm learning a language. Does it do audio?

Every card reads aloud in your phone's own voice, free, offline, hands-free if you like. Vocabulary cards fill their own reading, spoken clip, example sentence and picture, for you to check (Plus, with 20 free).

FAQ

Quick answers.

Is Bunshu really free?

Yes. Making cards, studying and every way to review are free and unlimited, with no ads. Plus adds unlimited AI drafting, generated audio, deeper stats and more storage, for US$9.99 a month or US$59.99 a year.

Do I need an account?

Not in the iPhone and Android apps: continue as a guest, and nothing is saved to servers. The web app needs a free account, as does keeping your cards in sync across devices.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone, Android and the web, with tablets supported. Studying works fully offline and syncs when you're back online.

Is my material used to train AI?

No. Your notes are read only to draft your cards, by providers that keep nothing after the job. You're asked before anything is uploaded.

Can I study in any language?

Yes. Your cards can be in any language. The app itself is in English at launch.

When can I use it?

Bunshu is estimated to launch in early 2027. Join the waitlist to get it first, free.
