About
About Bunshu
Bunshu is a spaced repetition flashcard app for iPhone, Android and the web, made by Ninki Gen Studio in Singapore. Cards come back just before you'd forget them, in one short session a day sized to your time. Miss a week and nothing swamps you. Nothing to set up.
Who makes it
Ninki Gen Studio, a sole proprietorship registered in Singapore, run by Min, its founder. Bunshu is the studio's first product. The studio's own site, ninkigenstudio.com, has the longer story.
Why
Because the memory science works and the apps built on it lose people anyway. Anki loses them twice: in the first week, when they can't work out how to use it, and in the second month, when the reviews pile up. Before writing a line of Bunshu we read 230,816 posts, comments and app reviews by people who use flashcard apps, from September 2024 to September 2026, on Reddit, the App Store, Google Play and Hacker News. The pile of overdue reviews was the first complaint, in about 6,000 texts. 27% of the questions on r/Anki were about settings and the algorithm. 23% of the low App Store reviews said the app was too hard to learn.
So Bunshu keeps the science, FSRS fitted to your own reviews, and removes both problems. Each session is sized to the time you have, and a missed week never changes its size. There is nothing to set up: every setting has a default, and your first card is up within a minute. Give a deck your exam date and it says On track or Behind. Hand it your notes and it drafts cards you check before they're saved. Bring your Anki decks with their history. And everything is yours to take away, free.
What we put in writing
- Making cards, reviewing and every way of studying are free and unlimited on every plan. Plus sells unlimited AI drafting, generated audio, deep Stats and more storage, never anything you need to study.
- No ads, ever, on any plan.
- Export is always free: an Anki file, a CSV or Bunshu's own package.
- Nothing you made is deleted because you stopped paying or went quiet. You can delete your account from inside the app.
- On your phone you can study as a guest, and nothing of yours reaches our servers.
- AI-drafted cards are labelled, point to the line they came from, and wait for your OK before they're saved.
The terms, the privacy policy and the refund policy say the same in full, and the pricing page has the prices.
